How a Son’s Legacy Became a Movement

If you’ve stumbled upon this festival and wondered, “Why so much fest?”—let me tell you a story.
It begins with loss. In 2019, my son—So, as he called himself—was taken from this world far too soon. The pain of losing a child is indescribable, but grief isn’t the end of the story. Love is.
So instead of mourning in silence, we threw a party. A celebration of life, filled with music, laughter, and the people who loved him most. Because that’s what he would’ve wanted—no, demanded.
The Birth of a Festival
My son was a force—a musician, a connector, a person who couldn’t ignore suffering. If he saw someone homeless, he’d stop. If he saw injustice, he’d speak up. His heart was too big for this world, but his spirit? It’s still here.
That’s why So Much Fest was born. What started as a single gathering has become an annual explosion of music, art, activism, and community—a way to honor not just him, but all those lost to violence and injustice.
What Makes This Festival Different?
This isn’t just another music festival. It’s a living, breathing movement.
🎸 Amazing Talent – Artists from across North Carolina (and beyond) donate their time because they believe in the cause.
🔥 Radical Joy – We dance, we camp, we stay up too late telling stories around the fire.
✊ Real Talk – Activists and speakers remind us that change starts here, in these moments of connection.
👧 A Space for Everyone – Kids run free, strangers become family, and nobody leaves unchanged.
My Biggest Regret (And What It Taught Me)

I wish I had known my son even better while he was here. Like so many parents, I thought I understood him—but kids are oceans, and we only skim the surface. In his last years, as he battled his own storms, we grew closer than ever. But time ran out.
Don’t wait. Love louder. Listen harder.
